Social Media Posts

Examples of social media posts made as a Communications Manager and Media Consultant

Finding the voice

In one of the first social media posts for this client, I wanted to boost social engagement by not only sharing across Facebook and Instagram, but also posting on the night of this community meeting. Being able to post quickly while the community meeting occurred, and my client was present, helped to set a tone of action and attention to detail.

One of the major challenges I overcame early with this post involved adopting my client’s voice online. I kept in mind his strong faith-based values in my writing, while also making sure to emphasize his community-driven work. Finding the right voice in social media posts kept my client true to his character.

This post received nearly 5k organic views on the campaign page and reached nearly half of the total view count within 24 hours. Consistency of similar posts, with at least two posts a day, would drive the total page views across Facebook and Instagram to 200% within the same week.

Building the Audience

As time progressed in my client’s campaign, he wanted to reach out to other community groups to better understand their wants and needs. The social media posts also had to reflect that similar desire and understanding.

The social media post also needed to account for considerations beyond my client’s needs, so the balance involved addressing both. I manage this by working with the client to understand his perspectives from the experience and how they align with the goals of the other group.

The hashtag created for the campaign was used across many posts to increase our online visibility, with most views coming from our Instagram Stories rather than individual posts.

Highlighting News Coverage

They say there’s no such thing as bad press…Although that might be true in some cases, when dealing with a client in a highly volatile political climate, it was imperative to stay on top of “good” news as much as possible. When we managed to obtain interviews with members of the press, I always wanted to highlight the key takeaways online.

In this instance, the client’s quote in the story was highlighted and expanded on social media. This allowed for others to possibly read the interview further, while drawing more attention to our own pages.

I also expressed how crucial it was to recognize the negative, sometimes, and utilize it whenever possible. Being the first to acknowledge an achievement or a misstep helped create a sense of authenticity, and if done consistently, would be strong enough to dispel any doubt on its own.

I drafted, distributed, and communicated one-on-one on behalf of my client to all of the local news publications in the area, and being part of that process also helped better prepare us for the aftermath.
